Jason Aldean Raises Over $500K for Fight Against Breast Cancer in ...
A Jason Aldean concert packed with over 20,000 fans is reason enough to put the whole room in a celebratory, rowdy mood. A Jason Aldean concert that also raises serious dollars for a good cause? That?s an even better reason.
The ?Night Train? star?s concert at Gexa Energy Pavilion in Dallas on Oct. 27 raised a whopping $509,125 to support the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure in the fight against breast cancer. Now in its seventh year, the concert closed out Aldean?s 2012 My Kinda Party Tour presented by State Farm.
Aldean?s first concert for the cure took place in 2006. The singer and his wife, Jessica, became became involved with the Susan G. Komen foundation after a family friend, Melissa, died from breast cancer while in her mid-20s.
?I know a lot of fans heard my friend Melissa?s story in the album special that GAC did,??Aldean?said prior to his Concert for the Cure in Nashville in 2009. ?That two minute clip barely touches on how passionate I feel about this. I promise to make it the most rocking late night gig in downtown Nashville that night, and I hope people will come out to support this cause and help me remember Melissa.?
Aldean took to his Twitter page to thank all of the fans who helped make the 2012 concert in Dallas a huge success. ?Thanx [sic] to everyone in Dallas last nite [sic] for a great show and helping us raise over $509k for Susan G. Komen,? he posted. ?What a way to end the MKP tour!?
Next up for ?The Only Way I Know? hitmaker is his first-ever stadium tour, the 2013 Night Train Tour. Several of the shows are already sold out, though the first date isn?t until early in the new year.
