New Leaf Market Farm Tour | Golden Acres Ranch

Saturday, October 20 and Sunday October 21

Out of the 31 farms on the tour this year 9 of them are from right here in Jefferson County. This is a wonderful rural setting and there are farms and ranches aplenty. Cattle, cotton, peanuts, watermelon, wholesale nurseries, sod farms and dairies. These are bigger farms although family run and often hire help to handle the diversity of jobs it takes to make these successful. They are the backbone of this county. Now, adding to that are the niche market farms and ranches promoting lots of U-Pick opportunities. There are persimmon groves, vineyards, chestnuts, blueberry growers, vegetable farms, as well as livestock on a smaller scale. There is the small ruminant (that?s a lamb or goat) ranches, pig farms, poultry raising and egg production.?You can go to those farms and ranches to select the animal you want. Lots of folks want to wake to the crow of a rooster or have a goat to clean the brush.

Now what to expect on the tour
