Bayer Leverkusen beats Kaiserslautern 2-0

BERLIN - Michael Ballack scored against his former team, helping Bayer Leverkusen win 2-0 at Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga on Friday night.

Ballack's 20-yard shot slipped through goalkeeper Kevin Trapp's fingers in the 54th minute. Ballack played with a protective mask for his broken nose.

Another former Kaiserslautern player, Sidney Sam, scored off a pass from Lars Bender in the 70th.

Sixth-place Leverkusen (6-4-3) hosts Chelsea in the Champions League on Wednesday. Kaiserslautern (3-6-4) is 12th.

PARIS (AP) ? Jires Kembo-Ekoko scored off a pass from Yann M'Vila as Rennes rallied for a 2-1 win at Lyon.

Lyon went ahead when Honorato Ederson deflected Kim Kallstrom's shot in the 36th minute, but Jonathan Pitroipa beat goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to tie the score three minutes later.

Lyon forward Lisandro Lopez returned from an ankle injury that had sidelined him since August, replacing winger Jimmy Briand in the 61st.

Rennes (7-3-4) is fourth with 25 points, behind Lille on goal difference. Lille tied 0-0 at Toulouse.

Lyon (7-5-2) is fifth with 23 points, ahead of Toulouse on goal difference.
